Company owner and former magician Francisco Guerra once needed a special snow effect for a trick on his show “The Magic of Francisco”. Since it was an indoor venue the only option was to use some kind of artificial snow – and so he did, “WOWING” the audience with a magnificent snowfall. People were amazed by this new special effect and many wanted it for their own events.
Guerra went on from here to create his company called SnowMasters, which initially worked only with businesses and events. After years of making it snow all around the world, SnowMasters finally introduced the first consumer product in the summer of 2006: The Amazing SnowMan. This machine works exactly the way big snow machines do, but it can be set up in everybody’s yard - greeting guests with a white season salute.
In his spare time Guerra works with inventor entrepreneurs to help them get their products launched. His products have been in retail, on QVC, in catalogs and magazines such as SkyMall, so he’s an excellent source.
“We were introduced to Francisco by our Attorney, Sean Collin. They both live in Alabama and Sean was helping us find potential manufacturing partners. They build a lot of product in China and have excellent relationships there. Francisco was very helpful in getting us our prototypes. He and his team pretty much handled the entire thing and we got three fabulous prototypes for a very reasonable investment. We’re very fortunate to have Francisco on our team. He’s a wonderful mentor. He’s generous with his time and expertise and always takes my calls,” notes Kathy Ellis, President of Leifers, a pethome furnishing company with two unique designer dog and cat house products.
SnowMasters has just launched a new product called Flogos. — a way to fill the sky with foamy clouds as big as 4 feet across and shaped like corporate logos - Flogos, as he calls them. “The Walt Disney Co. will use one of the machines next month to send clouds shaped like Mickey Mouse heads into the air at Walt Disney World in Orlando,” Guerra said.
The company uses re-purposed artificial snow machines to generate the floating ads and messages, dubbed Flogos. The machines can pop one Flogo out every 15 seconds, flooding the air with foamy peace signs or whatever shape a client desires. Renting the machine for a day starts out at a cost of about $2,500.
Designers use computer software to make a stencil that when placed into the snow machine, "cuts the foam in the exact right shape," said Flogo inventor Francisco Guerra.
The Flogos are about two feet long and nearly a foot wide, and generally last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, depending on conditions in the atmosphere, according to the company.
"They will fly for miles," Guerra said. "They are durable so they last a while."
