Save The Date — August 14, 2008

Leifer's Neoclassic doghouse can now count itself among the select few celebeauties featured in the 2008-2009 SNAPshots Fashion Calendar. The calendar is a labor of passion and love from fashion photographer Brett Chisholm and clothing designer Chloe Dao. They are available for purchase with all proceeds benefiting SNAP (Spay Neuter Assistance Foundation).

Brett Chisholm has been a huge supporter of SNAP for many years. He holds an annual SNAP party in December which is quickly turning into the organizations most popular annual fundraising events. This year he add the calendar to this mix.

Brett Chisholm and Chloe Dao will be hosting the SNAPshots Fashion Calendar Kickoff Party on Thursday, August 14, 2008. RSVPs are required to attend this special event. Space is limited to RSVP guests only. To RSVP or view the invitation, click here

The calendar features 15 months of fun, fashion, friends, facts and a little fame! The wives of the Houston Astros are among the models and all models are wearing Chloe Dao designer dresses. You can also see some of Elaine Turner’s most popular handbags and of course there are the dogs! Many of the featured dogs come from the Friends For Life organization. Friends for Life is a no-kill animal group who heals, rehabilitates and finds homes for dogs they rescue off the street.

The Leifer Neoclassic doghouse got very special placement in the calendar. “We are thrilled to have our designer doghouse in the calendar and doubly thrilled that it is modeled along side the famous dress that Chloe Dao won Project Runway 2 with. This dress is stunning. I can certainly see why she won the competition,” said Kathy Ellis, President of Leifers.

Like the designer who created it, this dress has been seen in some of the most exciting and important places. In January 2007, Dao’s designs were featured in the Smithsonian Museum in the “Exit Saigon, Enter Little Saigon” exhibit.  Dao’s reputation for understanding women and their bodies landed her a contract with Dove as their national spokesperson for the “Sleeveless Ready” campaign. Even with the win of Project Runway 2, Dao continues to develop and grow her boutique’s business in Houston. She hopes to open stores in other cities such as New York and Los Angeles.

Leifers involvement with SNAP was actually the inspiration behind the doghouse creations. Karl Krieg, the doghouse designer, was looking for a solution to help with the relocation of the feral cats he rescued and relocated to his home. “I was trying to figure out a way to keep the food and cats off the ground where they’d be more safe and dry. I was playing around with several ideas and the dog and cat houses we’re creating came from those initial concepts. SNAP plays an important role in our life as we continue to do our part in getting stray cats and dogs spayed and neutered. We’re very grateful for their guidance and help when we needed and credit them with helping us launch this innovative concept,”

In addition to the doghouse featured with the Chloe Dao dress, Karl Krieg also donated his design expertise in the creation of the 2008-2009 SNAPshots Calendar.

About the Spay-Neuter Assistance Program
The Spay-Neuter Assistance Program is a 501(c)(3) organization that operates in Houston, and San Antonio, Texas, with a mission to prevent the suffering and death of cats and dogs due to overpopulation, especially in low-income areas. SNAP envisions a world without homeless dogs and cats. Both Houston and San Antonio have expressed the desire to become “no kill” cities in the near future. SNAP recognizes that sterilization programs, which by definition reduce the number of animals that could possibly be born, are essential to these communities’ reaching that desired status. SNAP will focus on helping these cities reach their goal by designing, delivering, promoting, and advancing community-based animal sterilization services.
